STORY BEHIND GANPATI PUJAN

                      श्री गणेशय नमः

Why is Ganpati worship done first?

According to the legend, once there was a dispute among all the gods and goddesses as to which god should be worshiped first on earth. Everyone started calling themselves superior to each other. Seeing this dispute that arose among the gods, Narad ji advised all the gods to take refuge in Lord Shiva.

All the gods reached Lord Shiva and told him about the entire situation. When Lord Shiva saw this quarrel between the gods, he made a plan to resolve it. He organized a competition for this. According to the competition, all the gods were asked to travel around the entire universe sitting on their respective vehicles. Whichever deity comes back first after circling the universe will be given the place of the first worshipable deity on earth.

Hearing the words of Lord Shiva, all the gods set out in their respective vehicles to circumambulate the universe. Ganesh ji was also involved in this competition and his ride was a rat. The speed of a rat is very slow and in such a situation Lord Ganesha got lost in thought. After this, instead of circling the universe, he took seven rounds of his parents Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati and stood in front of them with folded hands.

When all the gods returned after circling the universe, Ganesha was already present there and Lord Shiva declared Ganesha victorious. Hearing this, all the gods were amazed as to how the entire universe could be traveled so quickly by riding a rat. Then Lord Shiva told that parents have been given the highest position in the universe and the entire world and they are worshiped like gods. Instead of circling the universe, Lord Ganesha has revolved around his parents. After listening to Lord Shiva, all the gods agreed with his decision and since then Ganesha has been considered the first worshipable deity.
